Shape the future of water planning in the Territory by applying your knowledge of the principles of water resources.

The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment‘s Water Resource Division is responsible for administering the Water Act to manage the Northern Territory’s water resources and to support the Controller of Water Resources in performing their statutory functions.

As a Senior Water Resources Planner (P3) you will take the lead in coordinating and developing integrated catchment scale water allocation plans to ensure the sustainable use of the NT’s water resources, in line with the Water Act 1992. You will also support the development and delivery of the Daly River Water Allocation Plan and work as part of a team to deliver the NT Government, Department and Division’s strategic objectives and priorities, including leading the Division’s commitment to continuous improvement in water planning processes and procedures, reflecting the developing maturity of the Division as a regulator.

As a Water Resources Planner (P2) your primary objective is the preparation of integrated catchment scale water allocation plans to manage the Territory’s water resources, in line with the Water Act 1992. Your key duties will include developing water allocation plans and documenting processes and procedures and prepare and communicate technical reports. You will also liaise with technical experts, water advisory committees and external stakeholders

To be considered for either position you will require a degree qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or similar, and knowledge of water resource planning, environmental assessment. Demonstrated experience in data management and analysis, including manipulation and presentation of data using Excel and Geographic Information Systems such as ArcGIS or QGIS or similar is advantageous.

To be appointed at the P3 level will you to demonstrate extensive experience in translating and simplifying complex technical information and applying project and program management skills.
