FORWAARD Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our passionate and dedicated team. FORWAARD supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in reconnecting with their families and community following drug and/or alcohol-related difficulties through our holistic, culturally safe, and person- and community-centered programs and support.
In the position of Human Resources Manager, you will be required to oversee all HR functions including recruitment, staff development, employee relations, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies. The Human Resources Manager will work collaboratively with the senior leadership team, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Selection criteria:
Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of cultural and cross-cultural issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in generalist HR roles, with knowledge of recruitment, training, performance management, and compliance.
Sound understanding of current employment legislation, awards, and HR best practice.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work independently.
Experience in supporting culturally diverse teams, including working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (highly desirable).
High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive HR matters.
High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and HR information systems.
Key responsibilities:
Recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Staff training and professional development coordination.
Performance and employee relations management.
Workforce planning and strategy.
Ensuring compliance with employment regulations and organisational policies.
Managing workplace health and safety requirements.
Manage staff wellbeing.
Manage employee engagement and organisational culture.
Promote diversity, inclusion, and cultural safety.
