Health Promotion Officer – Cancer
Full Time (38 hours per week), Fixed Term (24-month contract)

About the Role
The Health Promotion Officer – Cancer is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating culturally safe and effective cancer-related health promotion activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The role aims to improve cancer awareness, increase participation in national screening programs, and support clients in navigating the healthcare system throughout their cancer journey. This includes individual support, community outreach, collaboration with stakeholders, and advocacy for culturally appropriate care pathways.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Qualifications and Registrations:
Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, Aboriginal health, community development, or a related field (desirable)
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culture, and the factors that impact their health and wellbeing
Understanding of the cancer care continuum and barriers Aboriginal clients may face in accessing services
Experience in cancer support, navigation, or palliative care
Familiarity with relevant cancer screening programs and health promotion frameworks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including group facilitation and community engagement
