The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) is the custodian of knowledge and data on the Territory’s geology and resources and undertakes activities to support and grow resources exploration industry including publishing geoscientific reports, maps, data packages and promotional materials.
As the Senior Geoscientist Publications (P3) your primary objective is to provide leadership, expert advice and editorial services to strategically guide the production and publication of a diverse range of geoscientific reports, data products and promotional materials.
Your key responsibilities will be to lead the Publications team to deliver high quality, timely and effective publication services, liaise with authors and contractors to ensure publications are of a high standard and align with industry best practice. You will apply your sound knowledge and the design and publication of specialist publications to coordinate public release of all NTGS products, monitor and review publishing practices and trends, and ensure the appropriate and timely adoption of new and improved technology. In addition, you will provide expert advice on publishing processes and ensure appropriate project management including reporting against strategic and business plans to achieve the required outcomes.
To be successful, you require tertiary qualifications in the Geosciences, preferably in Geology, proven leadership capability in a similar role and demonstrated high level ability in the preparation and editing of publications, particularly substantive or structural editing. Your sound knowledge of publishing trends, desktop publishing and information management principles will be well received.
Located in Darwin you will form part of a passionate and talented Northern Territory Geological Survey team and be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package inclusive of; 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading and the opportunity to undertake meaningful work to support and promote the diverse range of NTGS publications.
