Job Description
We're seeking a highly capable Azure and Linux Engineer to join a managed services team supporting key Government clients. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for delivering and maintaining secure hybrid cloud environments, focused on Azure and Linux-based infrastructure. The successful candidate will be involved in architecture design, operations support, automation, and compliance in mission-critical environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• 
  Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure
• 
  Administer Azure PaaS services (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL)
• 
  Implement Azure security best practices including policies, RBAC, and encryption
• 
  Manage virtualisation platforms including VMware Cloud Foundation
• 
  Configure, secure, and optimise Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)
• 
  Implement performance tuning and system integrity checks
• 
  Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform and ARM templates
• 
  Automate routine tasks with Bash or Python scripting
• 
  Monitor system health and troubleshoot technical issues proactively
• 
  Respond to incidents and service requests, including after-hours deployments
• 
  Maintain detailed technical documentation and change control records
• 
  Work collaboratively across product and service teams to support continuous delivery

Education/Certifications Required

• 
  Relevant certifications in Azure, Linux, or VMware highly regarded
• 
  NV1 or ability to obtain an AGSVA clearance is required

Knowledge/Skills Required

• 
  Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure cloud environments
• 
  Proven Linux system administration skills across secure enterprise environments
• 
  Proficiency in VMware virtualisation and supporting hybrid cloud environments
• 
  Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
• 
  Strong troubleshooting and incident response capabilities
• 
  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in agile teams
• 
  Familiarity with ITIL service management and ticketing systems

Desirable

• 
  Experience in Defence or Federal Government projects
• 
  Understanding of air-gapped networks and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISM, Essential Eight)
• 
  Exposure to Python, Bash, and automation in secure environments
• 
  Willingness to work in on-call or shift-based managed service teams

Security Requirement
Australian Citizenship is mandatory. Candidates must hold or be eligible for a security clearance (NV1 minimum).
