We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Events Officer to join our team!

What You Will Do:

As an Events Officer, you will play a key role in our community events team, supporting the planning, promotion, and smooth delivery of a variety of Council events. From Australia Day and ANZAC Day to festive Christmas celebrations and major sporting events like the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games, your work will help create meaningful experiences that encourage community engagement.

You will assist the Community Events & Engagement Coordinator and collaborate with our Strategic Communications team, ensuring events run efficiently and are well-promoted to maximise attendance and positive community impact.

What We Are Looking For:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Marketing or Event Management and/or demonstrated equivalent workplace experience.

Demonstrated event management capability to contribute to the planning and delivery of community events.

Good knowledge of key trends relative to the community event and sporting industries.

Understanding of the local government context and working environment.

Good presentation and writing skills.

Understanding of event management software.

Ability to work after hours when necessary, including some weekends and public holidays.

Ability to relate well to the public and staff.
