About the role
The Land Development Officer plays a vital role in ensuring new water and sewer infrastructure for subdivisions and main extensions are delivered to meet required standards. This role ensures developments are appropriately planned, accounting for current growth in our region.
A core component of this role is conducting field-based auditing on the construction of new water and sewer infrastructure and completing inspection reports to ensure compliance with legislative and corporation standards. You will have access to a North East Water vehicle to regularly travel onsite to complete inspections. This is an amazing opportunity to get out and about in the beautiful north east region!
Our ideal candidate will be pro-active and highly organised with the ability to display a strong commitment to working as part of a team.
This role is a full-time ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field-based auditing to ensure compliance with legislative and corporation standards and write detailed inspection reports on your findings, escalating any non-compliance.
Provide technical advice to developers and consultants on the construction and connection of new subdivision water and sewer infrastructure.
Ensure new water and sewer infrastructure for new subdivisions and extensions meet our forward development planning requirements.
Liaise with North East Water’s customers ensuring notification and communication on proposed and ongoing works.
Review and approve property development plans for new water supply and sewerage works for new subdivisions and extensions.
Ensure developer provided works and asset related data is captured in relevant systems (i.e. ESRI).
Support the recovery of fees and charges associated with development works.
Provide advice and administrative support to team with respect to the timely placement of requirements for planning referrals and the certification and issuing of a statement of compliance on subdivisions.

Key Selection Criteria
Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders.
Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to write detailed reports.
Understanding of the Plumbing Industry Code and Water Services Association of Australia Code or other trade industry codes and practices.
Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure assets, including pipelines, and pumping stations.
Relevant experience in and/or knowledge of development services and the subdivision process.

Position Information
An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 12% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
This is a full time, ongoing position.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable.
