Apply your technical knowledge and experience in prosthetic and orthotic devices to facilitate culturally safe and person-centred care to patients at the Alice Springs Hospital.

The Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is an accredited modern 209-bed teaching hospital providing services to adult, aged and paediatric populations living in Alice Springs and surrounding regions, covering a vast catchment area of almost one million square kilometres. Located within ASH, the Prosthetics and Orthotics team provides high quality and culturally safe services to inpatients and outpatients across the Central Australian region.

As a Technical Assistant you will contribute to the continuum of patient care by managing, coordinating and providing a high quality, comprehensive and culturally appropriate prosthetic and orthotic services to paediatric clients in an acute inpatient and outpatient setting. You will apply your technical skills to manufacture, modify or repair prostheses and orthoses devices, and accurately interpretate technical requirements as prescribed by the clinician. You will also be involved in contributing to continuous quality improvement, departmental audits and coordinate and support operational requirements for the department. Occasional outreach visits to Tenant Creek Hospital may also be required.

To be successful it is essential you have high quality technical skills, culturally appropriate prosthetic and orthotic expertise, demonstrated awareness of multicultural issues and their impact on clinical practice, and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
