The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Drilling Services Unit is responsible for the assessment, development and environmental protection of the Northern Territory’s groundwater resources.
As a Drill Bore Test Assistant, you are responsible for assisting with the drilling, construction, rehabilitation, test pumping and developing processes for the Drilling Services/Bore Testing section and the maintenance and fabrication of plant and equipment. Your key duties include maintaining accurate records and data, collecting and storing water samples and the operation and maintenance of drilling equipment and heavy duty off-road trucks.
To be successful you require a relevant trade qualification and/or equivalent work experience, a current HR class National Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain, experience in both arc and oxy / acetylene welding, and knowledge of work health and safety practices. You will be required to undertake arduous fieldwork in remote locations for extended periods, demonstrate good teamwork skills and be physically capable of performing the duties of the role. Demonstrated experience in the drilling, construction and rehabilitation of water bores, and current NT Water Well Drilling and First Aid Certificates would be highly desirable.
In return, you’ll receive a competitive remuneration package, inclusive of 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks’ recreational and 3 weeks’ personal leave, 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas – New Year’s shut-down.
