We're on the lookout for an experienced Senior Groundsperson to join our supportive Track & Facilities team at Tasracing. This role will be based in Hobart at our Elwick site. If you're ready to take the reins and make a significant impact, this is your chance.

The Role:

Reporting to the Track & Facilities Manager - Elwick, you will be responsible for:

Operating and maintaining specialist turf maintenance equipment including a verti-drain, topdressing equipment, spraying equipment, fertilising equipment and other implements relating to the maintenance of the Thoroughbred turf track.

Performing general turf maintenance duties, including divot replacement and filling, sweeping, watering and assisting with rail movements.

Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of both the Harness and Greyhound tracks for race meetings and training. Including, but not limited to the grading, harrowing, smudging and watering of tracks.

Maintenance and programming of automated irrigation systems to Thoroughbred track, Greyhound track and throughout the grounds.

Operating and maintaining turf management/horticultural plant and equipment including mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, handheld power tools, HP tractors, implements and light trucks.

Assisting in a broad range of operational requirements including maintenance of plant, equipment and facilities. Preparing venue for race meetings and events.

Assist with grounds maintenance and horticultural maintenance tasks as required.

Providing support with race meeting preparation and operations. Working overtime as required.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

Suitable qualifications in Turf Management, Horticulture or similar.

Have suitable experience with use of turf management plant and machinery. Including, but not limited to tractors, verti-drain, scarifier, corer, sprayer, fertiliser spreader, top dressing, mowers etc.

Have experience in working with sand materials including grading, harrowing, smudging etc.

Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.

Ability to assist in upskilling of colleagues and lead small teams.

Contemporary understanding of workplace health and safety regulations with a strong focus on contributing to improving the safety culture of the Track Team.

Proven ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and agility in the workplace.

Ability to adapt to numerous projects and variating priorities throughout the day.

Can work overtime as required for preparation of and conducting race meetings.

Drivers licence essential.

Desirable

Truck licence preferred but not essential.
