Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on a fixed-term basis in Melbourne.

Provide strategic leadership to support and embed systemic practice improvements across the youth justice system.

Contribute to improving the outcomes of young people’s futures.

The Opportunity

Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2027 based in Melbourne.

VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $185,518 per year plus superannuation.

Provide authoritative advice to senior executives on emerging issues impacting multicultural and multifaith young people and their families, and on how to solve problems and drive practice improvement.

Contribute to the reform agenda to address the overrepresentation of African, Pasifika and other multicultural and multifaith young people in the justice system by developing and implementing a change reform work plan to create a more sustainable approach to multicultural capability that is embedded in Youth Justice practice.

Provide state-wide case management and CCYD practice advice for complex cases and systemic issues as escalated by Community Engagement Officers or regional managers.

Work alongside existing multicultural and multifaith staff across the Youth Justice system to proactively identify and analyse emerging systemic issues and trends impacting young people from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds across the state.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

Demonstrated understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic), the Youth Justice Act 2024, Child Safe Standards, the Youth Justice Case Management Framework and the Custodial Operating Philosophy.

Demonstrated strong expertise and proficient understanding of multicultural and multifaith groups, including society and culture and the issues impacting these communities, particularly in relation to young people.

Demonstrated experience and ability to forge partnerships and communicate sensitively and effectively with multicultural and multifaith groups.

A full and current driver's license.
