Salary range $153,214.00 - $175,373.00 plus statutory superannuation
We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking individual to be VIT's Manager Strategic Policy and Projects. This role in VIT's dynamic Strategy, Accreditation, Professional Practice and Policy Branch is an exciting and challenging mandate to have oversight and delivery of VIT's strategic planning, policy development and research.
The Manager Strategic Policy and Projects role offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their expertise and leadership to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert knowledge on education, regulation and policy, this position is designed to attract individuals who have strong subject matter expertise in leading and overseeing policy functions in a regulatory environment and strong experience working with Government to influence and respond to emerging policy trends.

About the role
This role will require you to:
- build policy and project capability across the organisation
- lead policy development with a risk-based responsive approach
- proactively consult with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- lead projects and policy work that supports VIT's strategic vision ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders that enable you to influence and/or respond to state and federal education policy agendas
- undertake and coordinate research in order to provide advice to VIT Council and the Executive regarding policy and strategic matters
- lead organisational strategic projects including, but not limited to, the development of project documentation, policies and guidelines
About you
As an experienced Manager you will have:
- experience in leading teams and building a positive culture to deliver on key outcomes
- sound and practical knowledge of current legislation and policy development
- experience in regulation and project management
- the ability to lead change and influence at senior levels
- excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills
- a passion for child safety and experience working within the education sector.
You will have strong project management and communication skills combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in delivering outcomes. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have a strong understanding of the issues facing the teaching profession.

- Understanding of regulatory objectives, strategies, policies, processes and standards and ability to operate within a government/regulatory environment.
- Policy design and development (Leading) - Keeps up to date with a broad range of contemporary issues; Develops complex and far-reaching business case proposals. Builds trusting relationships with Senior Leaders across the VPS to engender support for proposals. Provides thought leadership to others on area of expertise.
- Project Delivery (Accomplished) - Translates strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes required; Defines governance e.g. success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring) required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.
- Stakeholder Management (Leading) - Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; Facilitates innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
- Managing People (Leading) - Role models ethical leadership through decision making and interactions with people; Creates an organisational culture that enables others to perform at their best and achieve outcomes the organisation.

About Victorian Institute of Teaching
The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is an independent statutory authority for the teaching profession, whose primary function is to regulate members of the teaching profession.
It is a legal requirement for all teachers to be registered with VIT in order to be employed in a school.
We will only grant registration and allow registration to continue where a person is appropriately qualified and is fit to teach in schools.
The VIT was established by the Victorian Institute of Teaching Act 2001 in December 2002.
The Education and Training Reform Act 2006 [the Act] amalgamated all relevant education and training Acts (including the Victorian Institute of Teaching Act 2001), and was proclaimed 1 July 2007.
Further substantial amendments to the legislation were enacted in 2010, with effect from 1 January 2011. The
VIT continues in operation under and subject to the Act (as amended).
