Divine Darbar Indian Restaurant, located in the heart of Carlton, is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen team. We are a well-regarded venue known for delivering high-quality, authentic Indian cuisine and exceptional service.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated chef to grow in a supportive, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing and cooking full-course Indian meals including curries, tandoori items, and regional specialties.

Overseeing and scheduling kitchen staff, ensuring tasks are delegated and completed efficiently.

Inspecting food preparation and serving areas to ensure food safety and hygiene practices are followed at all times.

Preparing dishes to accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Estimating food requirements, managing stock levels, and maintaining cost control.

Cleaning kitchen areas, utensils, and workspaces in compliance with health and safety standards.

Seasoning and cooking food according to recipes, experience, or customer preferences.

Managing ovens, tandoors, grills, and other kitchen equipment to regulate temperature and cooking consistency.

Assisting other cooks during peak service periods or when required.

Communicating clearly and professionally, both verbally and in written form.

Taking initiative and being accountable for your section of the kitchen.

Demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills.

Collaborating effectively with colleagues and maintaining a positive team environment.

Skills & Experience:

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher.

Minimum of 1 year relevant experience as a Chef (preferably in Indian cuisine).

Strong understanding of food handling, hygiene, and safety standards.

Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.
