We are on the hunt for an experienced Sous Chef and Chef De Partie to join our thriving kitchen team at The Empress Hotel in Fitzroy North. As a full-time Sous Chef and Chef De Partie, you will play a vital role in supporting our Head Chef to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, creative environment and contribute to the ongoing success of our renowned hospitality establishment.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, plating and presentation

Ensuring consistent, high-quality food production and service

Overseeing the work of junior kitchen staff, providing guidance, training and performance feedback

Maintaining strict health, safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen

Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver an outstanding customer experience

Assisting with inventory management and cost control

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a high-quality restaurant or hotel environment

Strong technical cooking skills and knowledge of contemporary culinary trends and techniques

Excellent time management, multitasking and problem-solving abilities

Proven leadership and team management skills

A passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create innovative, flavorsome dishes

A keen eye for detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the wider team
