Director Major Projects, Housing Portfolio

  • Based in Parramatta
  • Full-Time Ongoing Role
  • Total Remuneration Payable: starting from $250,516 to $274,619

Your role

Homes NSW leads the delivery of more social and affordable housing, ending the cycle of homelessness, and building quality public housing across NSW. The Director Major Projects is responsible for the full lifecycle of major estate renewal and urban transformation projects, delivering on the Government's commitment to increase the supply of new social, affordable and private homes and creating improved places and amenity.

What you'll do

As leader of the Major Projects team within Homes NSW, you will:

  • Establish and lead partner-led complex and high profile redevelopment programs including planning, business case development, Government approvals, procurement, contracting, stakeholder management and overseeing delivery through commercial relationships.
  • Implement robust and sophisticated assurance and commercial management frameworks and processes for Homes NSW complex and major projects.
  • Lead property redevelopment projects for a range of complex long-term initiatives involving multiple property types.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government, industry partners, consultants, third party providers, and community representatives to provide expert advice.
  • Deliver on operational performance and financial objectives of multiple complex programs, identifying and mitigating financial and reputational risk.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in property development, planning construction management, property economics or relevant business discipline.
  • Extensive project management skills and property development experience across significant and diverse development programs.
  • Committed to travelling both locally and regionally, including overnight travel, as the role requires by the business and/or directed.
  • Specialist knowledge and expertise in understanding private sector and public sector property and construction development process
  • Experience leading large scale and / or complex transactions including project due diligence, strategy and business case development, implementation and delivery experience.
  • Familiarity with residential development, social and affordable housing, and working with NGOs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government, the policy process and the relevant statutory requirements that underpin Homes NSW's operations
