About the Role
The Finance / Payroll Manager is responsible for supporting the Business Manager to manage the School's financial operations to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to optimise financial resources, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, account reconciliations, cash flow management, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
The role is also responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable and the end-to-end payroll lifecycle. Additionally, the Finance / Payroll Manager ensures compliance with all legal and statutory obligations of the school.
About You
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Finance / Payroll Manager who not only has the technical skills and abilities required to undertake the role, but what is most important to us and our culture is that the successful candidate is human-centred, highly relational and someone who thrives in a purpose-driven, inclusive, and progressive environment. The successful candidate will have:
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Accounting and/or Business Management.
Membership to CPA or CAANZ preferred.
Proven experience in developing and managing annual budgets, aligning them with strategic objectives, and preparing multi-year financial forecasts to support long-term planning.
Ability to conduct monthly or quarterly variance analyses, highlight deviations from budget, and provide actionable insights. Proficiency in preparing monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Experience in managing the end-to-end payroll cycle, including but not limited to salary processing, superannuation, tax, leave accruals, system reconciliation, reporting, and responding to payroll enquiries.
Demonstrated experience in monitoring daily cash balances, performing bank reconciliations, and managing liquidity forecasts to ensure optimal cash flow.
In-depth knowledge of compliance requirements, including submissions to regulatory bodies such as the ATO, Department of Education, ACARA, VRQA, ACNC, and ASIC.
Experience in an independent school / school environment would be looked upon favourably.
