Brief Description

Provide professional and confidential counseling services for students. Resolve student’s psychological (emotional and mental wellbeing) and academic problems; establish and maintain appropriate relationships with support teams within SP Jain.

Key Accountabilities

· Act as an advocate for students providing them formal counseling support.

· Monitor and provide appropriate diagnostic interventions to resolve critical or psychological problems.

· Assist the academic and non- academic team by providing counseling and related services for students and in personal / academic issues.

· Maintain a high level of professional expertise through ongoing professional development and maintaining standards of SP Jain’s counseling policies.

· Assist the students to understand cultural differences and provide resolutions befitting the culture of the organization and the student.

· Assist in realistic goal setting and plan to achieve.

· Helping students to cope with academic pressures.

· Provide consistent coaching and feedback for academic and personal success

· Encourage and instill professional attitude (appearance and behavior) as well as facilitate cultural sensitivity.

· Facilitate self-management and readiness to change through workshops and other wellbeing initiatives.

· Need to work as part of a team to respond and contain critical incidents involving students that affect the school.

· Maintain a close working relationship with the Counseling team across all campuses to ensure a consistent level of services delivery to students

· Assist students at point of transition (especially due to dual/tri-city model; or careers).

· Administer and interpret a range of psychometric tests if needed (i.e. DISC, FACET 5, STRONG, etc.)

Functional Skills

Must have experience in managing counseling desk.

Must have knowledge of cross- cultural counseling strategies and therapies used for student counseling

Must have knowledge of ethical standards of Counseling and psychotherapy (Especially Confidentiality).

Must have expertise in conflict management and people skills.

Must have worked in a multicultural environment.

Must be adept in using latest technological tools for documentation

Must be calm and able to work under pressure.

Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have a pleasant personality and a go-getter attitude.

Must be a self-starter, driven to produce exemplary quality work.

Must work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience Range - 3 to 5 years (This is an on-site full time role)

Qualifications - Post Graduate Degree in Counseling/ Clinical Psychology
