The Northern Territory’s Auditor-General Office (NTAGO) is an independent office that undertakes financial and performance audits of public sector entities, including government businesses in the Northern Territory.
As Audit Manager, your primary objective is to assist the Auditor-General and the Office in the discharge of their responsibilities under the Audit Act 1995 and other legislation. This includes managing audits undertaken by contracted audit firms and reporting on the outcomes of those audits directly to Parliament, which is essential in achieving NTAGO’s mission of helping Parliament to hold Government accountable for its use of public resources.
Your key duties include project managing a portfolio of audit engagements to ensure their completion on time and budget, collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and resolve technical issues and ensuring adherence to NTAGO’s audit methodology, policies and procedures, relevant legislative requirements and Australian Auditing and Accounting Standards. In addition, you will be required to contribute to the preparation of the Auditor-General’s reports to the Legislative Assembly and undertake research and data analysis of responses from audited entities.
To meet the challenges of this key role you require degree qualifications in accounting, business or a related professional field, have experience at a senior level in audit practice and management, and already have or be eligible for membership of a recognised professional association relevant to the audit profession.
Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Auditing and Accounting Standards, the ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships and influence outcomes is essential.
