Beaumont&Beaumont are assisting a Brisbane-based law firm to find an experienced, capable administrative assistant or paralegal to join their team.
Our client is a full-service law firm and has a strong history providing legal services to the Hendra, Brisbane region. Being a full-service firm, they provide legal services across a wide range of practice areas including criminal and civil litigation, property and conveyancing, building and construction, wills and estates, and commercial law.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to use your existing legal administrative experience to effectively support, contribute to and enhance the legal team, and to also gain experience across a range of diverse legal areas.
The Role
This role is suited to candidates with existing experience working in a law firm, with levels of experience ranging from Admin Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Law Clerks and Paralegals.
You will be directly supporting lawyers and partners of the firm (who may be both local and remote), and although you will be working under their direction you must be proactive, able to take initiative, and effectively manage and be responsible for your work.
Our ideal candidate:
Strong prior experience working in a law firm
Experience with the range of MS Office products, as well as legal file management systems
Experience working across multiple legal areas, including but not limited to litigation, wills and estates
Experience with conveyancing is not essentially but would be highly regarded
Ability to work effectively in a team, but also independently under limited direction where needed
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Extremely organised, with the ability to organise others (lawyers)
Keen attention to detail
Have the initiative, experience and capability to proactively anticipate needs
Professional manner and strong work ethic
Relevant qualifications are an advantage (Certificate in Legal Administration, Licensed Conveyancer, etc) but not as essential as demonstrated experience
Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Support lawyers and their work by completing the full range of administrative and file progression tasks
Assist with drafting legal documents, templates, letters and other correspondence
Manage emails, inboxes and other correspondence
Manage diaries and calendars, as well as logistics and coordination for appointments
Create and maintain files, ensuring that they are effectively managed, up to date and progressed
Communicate effectively and appropriately with internal staff, clients and stakeholders (courts, government institutions, etc)
Assist with general office tasks and office management
Assist with legal research
Provide other ad-hoc administrative duties in support of the firm, lawyers and their work
