Role: Assistant Accountant / Temporary Finance Support
Location: Sydney
Type: Temporary position for 8 weeks, with potential to extend
Rate: Up to $40 per hour + super

COMPANY:
Our client forms part of a wider group of businesses operating across health, fitness, IT services, holidays and wellness. This particular opportunity sits within the health and fitness arm, delivering financial support for the management of multiple leisure and aquatic centres.

The team is seeking temporary support to provide additional assistance during a particularly busy period and help maintain smooth operations.

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a capable and adaptable Assistant Accountant or Finance All-Rounder to provide hands-on support to the Finance Manager. This role is ideal for someone confident working independently, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

KEY DUTIES:

• Assist in the preparation of documentation and reporting for upcoming audits
• Support general accounting functions, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Investigate and interpret historical processes and transaction trails
• Assist in preparing the budget for the upcoming financial year
• Provide support across accounts payable and receivable functions
• Contribute to the transition between legacy and new finance systems
• Offer flexible support to the wider finance team as required

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Proven experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance support role
• Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, and accounting processes
• Experience across both accounts payable and receivable
• Comfortable working with older financial systems and adopting new platforms
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work independently
• Must have a suitable home working set-up; occasional in-person meetings may be required
