Assistant Accountant

Cox Purtell is partnering with a national tourism organisation to find their next Assistant Accountant to work alongside their finance team and be responsible for the accounting of operations for all sites.

Role responsibilities:

• Month-end financial closing, including preparation of accruals, prepayments, balance sheet account reconciliations and assisting with analysis of results.
• Monthly and annual regulatory reporting requirements e.g BAS return, FBT return
• Processing monthly billing/charges, journals, and credits associated with tour operators.
• Review and process data from various operational and financial systems for recording results and providing management information.
• Month-end journal preparation and processing
• Reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
• Internal and external audit support, including Statutory reporting
• Other general ledger reconciliations
• Other ad-hoc finance duties as required
• Internal and external audit support including statutory requirements relevant to areas of responsibility

Skills required:

• Prior experience as an Assistant Accountant
• CA/CPA Qualified or working towards is a desirable
• Comfortable with multiple IT systems and fast learner.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel for data analysis, process improvement and efficiency.
• Process and deadline driven mindset, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Keen eye for detail with ability to spot trends and anomalies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
