About World Literacy Foundation

The World Literacy Foundation is an international nonprofit organization committed to eradicating illiteracy and bringing the joy of reading to children and young people in underserved communities. Our initiatives include providing children's books, tutoring, digital programs utilizing AI, grassroots community education, literacy awareness, support for new parents, youth empowerment, conferences and events, and global advocacy for those who cannot read.

Founded in 2010, we inspire and support 600 young people to become change-makers in their local communities, thereby improving literacy outcomes. We reach 150 million people globally each year.

The Opportunity

Are you a dynamic and driven fundraising leader passionate about witnessing the life-changing impact when young people discover the joy of reading? We are seeking a Head of Fundraising to join our team in a pivotal leadership role. This position involves leading a team of 10 people, enhancing our current fundraising activities, and identifying key opportunities for growth.

Your role will be to increase our fundraising channels by 30% over the next 18 months. You will need to have extensive fundraising expertise, existing networks, and the ability to make an immediate impact. Working closely with our CEO and the broader leadership team, you will play a crucial role in adding value to our existing fundraising efforts and driving strategic growth and expansion in 2026 and beyond

As the Head of Fundraising, you will be responsible for:

· Developing and implementing fundraising strategies to diversify and increase income streams.

· Leading and managing a team of fundraising professionals to achieve targets and goals.

· Identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.

· Overseeing the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.

· Collaborating with the CEO and leadership team to align fundraising efforts with the organization's strategic goals.

· Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of fundraising activities and making adjustments as needed.

This role requires a proactive, results-oriented individual who is committed to the mission of the World Literacy Foundation and has a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities

As our global Head of Fundraising, you will:

· Lead the overall development of fundraising income from corporate, philanthropy, major donors, individual donors, community groups, monthly donor and Wills/Bequests.

· Spearhead the efforts to grow our income by $2m per year with increased focus on high net worth individuals, global corporate partnerships and Trust and Foundations.

· Develop a strategic growth strategy for 2026 and beyond.

· Manage a small of marketers including people working in social media, grant writers IT, designers and events.
