The Role

The Team Leader Information Management, is part of the leadership team within the Organisational Strategy, Change and Information Management (OSCIM) branch.

The Team Leader position is responsible for leading a diverse and dispersed team and providing expert information management advice and support to all CASA staff.

The role includes, but is not limited to, oversight and delivery of the following functions:

  • Leading a team to deliver best practice information management
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining strategies, policies, frameworks and procedures consistent with Australian Government legislation and policies
  • Managing the coordination of reports, including statistics related to information
  • end-to-end management of CASA’s physical and electronic information, including managing external providers to progress key initiatives
  • Providing business use advice and advocacy (particularly in respect to configuration and use) of CASA’s records management and document control systems
  • Providing advice on new and legacy systems with respect to information management legislation and policies
  • Providing high level advice, training and engagement with staff on information management
  • Liaising with Commonwealth departments and relevant information management bodies to keep track of industry best practice, innovation and trends
  • Applying creativity and innovation to undertake tasks associated with CASA’s information management transformation
  • Promoting workplace safety, equity and diversity, participative management and environmental management in the workplace and behaviour and actions that are in accordance with CASA’s values.
  • Working supportively and cooperatively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve shared outcomes and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in a sensitive, respectful and equitable manner.
  • As a leader you will support CASA to establish and maintain a positive health and safety culture, including psychosocial wellbeing, in the workplace and to consult with workers and others when making decisions that may impact upon the health, safety and wellbeing of those in the workplace.
  • As an employee, you will contribute to maintaining a positive health and safety culture at CASA, including psychosocial wellbeing in the workplace and will provide my input, where appropriate, to decisions that may impact upon my health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in leading diverse and dispersed teams, and four years’ experience in information management.
  • Relevant experience and understanding of contemporary information management practices and principles in a government context, including the ability to apply them in a changing and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the electronic and physical information management function, including the sentencing, digitisation and destruction of Commonwealth Records in line with NAA guidance and legislative obligations.
  • Strong stakeholder (internal and external) engagement experience, with a focus on liaising effectively with colleagues to ensure information management practices are performed consistently and efficiently as well as effectively managing third party suppliers.
  • Experience in business support of information management services and systems, including information, record and/or document management environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including proven ability to build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships including negotiation skills and the ability to resolve complex issues
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications (degree qualification or higher) relating to information management or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Eligibility requirements

Employment with CASA is subject to conditions prescribed within the Civil Aviation Act 1988. The following eligibility requirements apply to this position:

  • Must be an Australia citizen or permanent resident
  • Undergo pre-employment screening including a Police Check
  • Currently holds a Commonwealth security clearance to Baseline or have the ability to obtain and hold a clearance at this level.

Under section 8 of the, Civil Aviation Act 1988, CASA is a body corporate separate from the Commonwealth.
