TEAM LEADER - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND HOMELESSNESS SERVICE (DHVS)

Toora helps women, trans women, and other feminine-identifying people living with trauma through experiencing any combination of:

Homelessness

Domestic violence

Alcohol and substance dependency, or

Connection with the corrections system.

Our current domestic violence, homelessness and AOD health treatment programs range across a variety of settings, such as crisis support, transitional or head tenancy accommodation, day programs, counselling and outreach support.

This allows us to provide holistic wrap-around, trauma-informed care within an integrated service system. We deliver these complex services within a human rights and gender sensitive framework, with advocacy at the forefront.

All services are based on a theoretical model of recovery, respect and empowerment. This includes encouraging self-help to our clients and assisting in minimizing the effects of institutional discrimination or disadvantages, and its associated harm.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The DVHS Team Leader will assist and support the case coordinators and support workers in their day-to-day activities and ensure quality outcomes in direct service delivery within the Domestic Violence and Homelessness team.

She will ensure the provision of safe and secure crisis, transitional accommodation and outreach support, comprehensive case management, information, referral and advocacy services, practical, emotional and other relevant support, to address key areas of client’s health and other needs.

The DVHS Team leader will assist clients to develop critical analysis of their circumstances and to achieve change in their interpersonal environment and broad social conditions.

The Team Leader (DVHS) will report directly to the Executive Director of Domestic Violence & Homelessness Service, and other members of the leadership / executive team as required.

They will have direct oversight and supervision responsibilities of:

DVHS Case Coordinators

DVHS Support Workers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & CAPABILITIES

The key responsibilities of the Team Leader (DVHS) include:

Responsible for the day-to-day running of designated TDVHS programs according to identified goals and outcomes and supporting the executive team in strategic or organisational activities as required.

Actively contribute to the Leadership team, supporting the development and sustainability of the Organisation.

Provide day-to-day direction and support of designated staff, debrief and monitor work performance (including direct supervision and client review meetings)

Manage daily referrals to residential or outreach programs

Oversee comprehensive client assessments and case management, including quality, safety and risk, ensuring staff are compliant with statutory / regulatory requirements.

Assist Executive team to determine service clinical priorities, organise work tasks, delegate caseload and coordinate programs with initiative, flexibility and creativity

Oversee collaborations with other internal and external services regarding case management ensuring best outcomes for the client, including implementation of appropriate care teams

Provide specialist advice on complex case matters, and provide expert advice to other internal team members

Monitor team and section workflows, to ensure organisational goals are met within the service area.

Assist in reviewing records in SRS, ensuring compliance by staff within of all aspects of support provided to clients including case management plans, identified needs, priorities, goals, action, notes, or other relevant information or documentation to meet legal requirements.

Act in a higher role or undertake higher duties as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma level qualification in relevant field (Community Services, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work etc.) and minimum 3 - 5 years’ sector experience; or

Bachelor level qualification in relevant field (Social Work, Social Science, Community Services, Health, Psychology etc.) and minimum 2 - 3 years’ sector experience

Current driver’s license

Provide Satisfactory National Police Record Check & Working with Vulnerable People registration

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3+ years’ sector experience (with Bachelor Qualification)

Minimum 5+ years’ sector experience (with Diploma Qualification)

Minimum 3+ years management experience

Experience of working with women with high and complex needs, particularly with homelessness, AOD, mental health, sexual assault, domestic violence, incarceration and women from diverse backgrounds.

Thorough understanding of the current trends, practices, policies and legislation pertaining to the homelessness and domestic violence sectors.

Ability to lead a team with well-developed interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

High level service delivery skills in trauma informed case management within a feminist framework
