The Position
We are looking for an experienced and qualified professional to work within the City’s Environmental Management, Policy and Planning Service Unit. This role offers a great chance to join a progressive team and use your skills and knowledge to protect and enhance our natural areas. You will assist in gathering and providing information and technical advice to other Service Units (such as for development application assessment), helping develop and coordinate environmental projects (such as planning rehabilitation and feral animal control), and undertake other duties related to the preservation and improvement of the natural environment (such as assessing dieback and vegetation condition reports).
The successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, Biological Science, Botany, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of and experience in dealing with environmental issues and environmental management practices.
- Good understanding of bushland and wetland management.
- Experience in environmental planning and environmental impact assessment.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting on environmental projects.
- Experience in managing contractors.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of grant preparation, reporting, and acquittal processes.
Indicative Hours: 8am to 5pm, 9-day fortnight available (flexible working arrangements apply). Part-time options, such as 4 days per week, may be available for the right candidate. This role is to cover a period of Parental Leave from July 2025 (commencing ASAP), until end February 2026, at which time there may be the opportunity to extend.
Salary: $107,375 - $114,022 per annum plus superannuation, dependant on skills and experience.
