The Opportunity

We need people with geospatial expertise for two positions:

  • Geospatial Analyst - involves spatial database administration and management of geospatial enterprise system and applications.
  • Geospatial Cartographer - provides geospatial services, data management, chart production and delivery of cartographic products.

You’ll be part of the Coastal Information Team. We love what we do, get along well and work collaboratively to deliver a range of services which cover spatial information, oceanography, hydrographic surveying, and cartographic design. We are the leader for the DoT Geographic Information System and provide geospatial, scientific and technical expertise for the department. Services include customised applications, advanced map production workflows, data modelling and analysis, data management and provision of bathymetric products.

We use a range of systems, applications and specialised software:

  • Our GIS systems are based on the Esri suite of products. Experience working in ArcGIS Enterprise platform, ArcGIS server, Geodatabase, Spatial and Network Analyst, GIS web services and geospatial data is important.
  • We also use a variety of software and techniques for 3D products, drone capture, bathymetry, chart production, data processing and managing coastal information products. These include but not limited to FME, Bently MicroStation, Hexagon, ER Mapper, QPS Quinsy, Qimera, Python.

A team player who has a passion for providing innovative spatial products and services. Someone who:

  • Has skills managing, developing, and supplying geospatial products, systems and services
  • Has experience in data management and delivery, data processing, and ability to do spatial data analysis
  • Can proactively research, investigate and resolve problems or implement solutions
  • Can think creatively and strategically about the future needs of the spatial community, especially as we explore and innovate in ocean environments in ways never done before.
