Project Manager – Niche Clients & Tenders

UBS are seeking a proactive and solutions-focused Project Manager with a trade background and Certificate IV in Building and Construction to deliver high-quality outcomes across a diverse portfolio of insurance and non-insurance building projects. This role is designed for a qualified tradesperson who has successfully transitioned into project leadership and thrives on managing client relationships, resolving challenges, and driving site-based performance. With your strong technical background and hands-on construction knowledge, you will manage the full lifecycle of each project—from initial engagement to final handover —while ensuring client satisfaction, compliance, and quality remain front of mind.

About the Role:

As part of our Niche Clients & Tenders team, you’ll oversee complex and varied projects for clients across insurance brokers, councils, government bodies, hospitals, schools, and insurance companies. Your success in this role will come from your ability to anticipate project needs, build trusted relationships, and respond to onsite challenges with practical, effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively manage client expectations and communication across all phases of the project to ensure trust, transparency, and satisfaction.
• Use your construction knowledge to assess and validate Scope of Works (SOW), identifying risks and opportunities early.
• Engage and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring they are clearly briefed and aligned with project quality and timeline objectives.
• Lead day-to-day site operations including repairs, remediation, and restoration works—maintaining safety, workflow, and standards.
• Quickly identify and resolve onsite issues including design discrepancies, structural concerns, or schedule delays, using a solution-oriented approach.
• Review quotes, variations, and invoices to ensure cost accuracy and alignment with scope and project stage.
• Conduct detailed inspections and QA processes to verify that completed works meet compliance and performance expectations.
• Ensure full compliance with all building codes, OH&S legislation, insurer requirements, and company procedures.
• Maintain strong working relationships with clients, trades, internal teams, and property stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.

What You Bring:

• Trade qualification and a minimum Certificate IV in Building and Construction (essential).
• At least 5 years’ experience in project management within residential construction, insurance repairs, or commercial restoration.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• A practical, problem-solving mindset with the confidence to take initiative and resolve issues independently and effectively.
• Strong understanding of building processes, codes, and compliance requirements including the NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
• Proven track record in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Competency in job management systems, digital site reporting tools, and general IT systems.
