Purpose of the Position
The Business Development Manager/Account Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business growth opportunities while also nurturing and expanding revenue within existing client accounts—including a portfolio of high net worth clients. A key aspect of the role is building strong relationships with key decision-makers, crafting and executing targeted growth strategies, and working collaboratively with the Head of Commercial, Account Managers, and Account Coordinators to achieve or exceed monthly KPIs and revenue targets.
Responsibilities & Duties
Business Development Management
Develop and implement tailored business growth strategies to support the overarching Business Plan.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, including C-suite executives and high net worth individuals.
Manage and grow revenue by a minimum of 10% year-on-year within key existing accounts.
Strategically manage high-value and high-profile client accounts to ensure long-term retention and satisfaction.
Provide direction and leadership to Account Managers and Account Assistants on account servicing and client communications.
Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within client portfolios, particularly among high-value accounts.
Meet and exceed weekly and monthly KPIs and revenue targets.
Provide detailed reporting on progress toward business targets, forecasts, and budget goals.
Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, industry knowledge, and current expertise.
Generate leads and cold-call prospective customers.
Research and identify potential clients and decision-makers within the target market.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
Maintain a pipeline of prospective clients and provide regular reports on progress toward targets.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to build connections and gather intelligence.
Planning & Execution
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all company products and services.
Attend and actively contribute to weekly sales meetings; complete action items as required.
Conduct detailed site inspections with clients and internal stakeholders (Operations/Creative).
Maximise profitability by delivering precise quotes and clear event specifications to the delivery teams.
Ensure all event logistics and client expectations are communicated accurately and on time.
Oversee on-site event delivery, including attendance at bump-ins and acting as Project Manager when required.
Ensure timely and accurate response to client quote requests.
Manage post-event processes including feedback collection, invoicing for additional items or damages, and preparation for future events.
Ensure payment collection and adherence to agreed terms across all accounts, particularly high-value ones.
Collaborate with stock control to forecast and manage inventory requirements quarterly.
Qualifications
Desirable:
Tertiary qualifications in business, sales, marketing, or a related field.
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Minimum 5+ years in the event hire or event management industry.
Proven success managing accounts with high-profile and high net worth clients.
Strong background working with corporate clients, caterers, event planners, and private clients.
High level of creative, strategic, and execution skills.
Strong administration and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated success in meeting KPIs, budgets, and sales targets.
Experience with forecasting, pipeline management, and sales reporting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with WinHire desirable.
Ability to multitask and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical and lateral thinking problem-solver.

Leave Entitlements
Full-time employees are entitled to four weeks of paid leave per 12 months worked.
Due to the company’s peak period from September through April, leave is encouraged to be taken outside of these months.
*Working Hours and Flexibility
This role operates within the events industry and, as such, requires flexibility in working hours to meet the demands of major event delivery. This includes regular work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly during peak periods (September to April). Time in Lieu will be granted for weekend work, and reasonable flexibility is provided for additional hours worked Monday to Friday. The company operates on an honesty-based system, recognising the natural peaks and troughs in the events calendar. Flexibility is expected during high-demand periods, while personal appointments and time off during quieter periods are supported to promote a balanced working environment.
