The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our Queensland team, reporting to the QLD Manager. This role bridges technical expertise and sales, ensuring our anchoring solutions are specified correctly for boat builders, distributors, and industry partners. You will play a pivotal role in product specification, engineering calculations, technical communication, and reseller training—all while fostering strong relationships with OEMs, chandleries, and service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering:

Specify and select Muir anchoring systems for customers and distributors.

Perform detailed engineering calculations for gearbox and motor selection.

Mark up and correct technical drawings to maintain accuracy.

Conduct root cause analysis of parts failures and warranty claims.

Provide design data to the Tasmanian engineering team for custom system requirements.

Ensure accurate tracking and classification of spare parts via SAP B1 ERP system.

Develop and distribute technical training materials for key industry stakeholders.

Manage technical inquiries, quotations, and customer follow-ups.

Organize and execute regular sales and technical training visits within Queensland and other states.

Sales:

Engage in outbound prospecting to introduce Muir products to new businesses.

Qualify leads and assess technical requirements for potential customers.

Conduct market research to refine outreach strategies and expand sales opportunities.

Track performance metrics to analyse effectiveness and optimize conversion rates.

Collaborate with marketing on lead generation campaigns and industry promotions.

Other Duties:

Support warehouse, logistics, and administrative tasks as required within the branch.

What We're Looking For

Engineering expertise, ideally with a bachelor’s degree in engineering (marine or heavy industry sector preferred).
Technical sales acumen, able to diagnose client needs and deliver tailored equipment solutions.
Strong relationship-building skills, comfortable engaging with technical stakeholders.
A proactive approach, with an ability to independently manage the sales pipeline.
Collaborative mindset, working across engineering, production, and administrative teams.
Proficiency in technical documentation and ERP systems (SAP B1 is a plus).
Results-driven attitude, consistently meeting KPIs and sales targets.
Willingness to travel, including regular visits to distributors and clients, with potential international travel as required.
