As the Business Manager, you'll be a key driver of operational excellence and strategic growth across a diverse range of functions:

  • Co-manage end-to-end business operations by championing a culture of continuous improvement and high-performance.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to their dedicated office support team, including schedulers, outsourced bookkeeper, and administrative staff.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly Toolbox and Leadership meetings, ensuring accountability, driving key initiatives, and tracking follow-through.
  • Oversee the intricate daily scheduling of the plumbing team. This is a critical function, encompassing direct scheduling involvement, supervision of the scheduler, real-time monitoring of field staff, and strategic prioritization to optimize client satisfaction and business utilization.
  • Partner with outsourced bookkeeping team to ensure impeccable, timely invoicing and proactive management of accounts receivable, optimizing cash flow.
  • Review and approve payroll, meticulously managing overtime, time in lieu (TIL), and comprehensive leave planning.
  • Develop and deliver insightful financial and operational reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly), providing data-driven analysis and actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key clients, expertly managing escalated service issues and consistently exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee all aspects of subcontractor engagement, including compliance verification, approvals, and efficient purchase order management.
  • Lead proactive resource planning initiatives, including optimizing on-call rosters, strategically leveraging subcontractor partnerships, and comprehensive leave management.
  • Oversee the efficient and compliant management of the fleet and equipment assets.
  • Ensure robust safety management systems, meticulous reporting, and ongoing adherence to all regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Streamline day-to-day office operations, fostering a productive and high-efficiency work environment.
  • Champion all HR-related matters, from seamless staff inductions and tailored training plans to effective performance reviews and the setting of clear, business-aligned KPIs.
  • Cultivate team development and morale through transparent communication, structured feedback mechanisms, and empathetic, proactive leadership.
  • Actively contribute to business expansion through strategic networking and proactive opportunity development.
  • Drive internal communication, facilitate valuable training programs, and strengthen team cohesion and engagement.
  • Identify, champion, and implement cutting-edge system and process improvements that enhance scalability, operational efficiency, and future-proof the business.

  • Proven, hands-on experience in operations, project, or business management, ideally within the plumbing, construction, maintenance, or trades-based sectors.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, meticulous scheduling, and superior organizational skills, enabling seamless execution in a dynamic environment.
  • A confident, approachable, and engaging communication style that fosters strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Robust financial acumen, with practical experience in budgeting, insightful reporting, and end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Tech-proficiency, demonstrated by advanced Excel skills and comprehensive experience with Microsoft 365.
  • A track record of success using modern job management systems like AroFlo or similar platforms.
  • Confidence and expertise in navigating compliance and Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations.
  • A collaborative and empowering leadership style, coupled with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
