Our client are a well-recognised Victorian State Government authority based within the Melbourne CBD, and after a recent restructure, have a newly created Assistant Accountant vacancy.

Your new role
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting, this position supports the financial accounting team with financial processes, ensuring accurate and compliant records.

Your duties will include:

• Assisting in preparing and posting journal entries in the general ledger
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations,
• Supporting the accounting of prepayments and assisting with monthly releases
• Updating and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) as directed
• Assisting in month-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met

What you'll need to succeed This role provides an opportunity for individuals in the early stages of their finance career to gain experience within an excellent organisation. You will ideally have relevant education and professional experience and have a solid understanding of accounting knowledge. You will ideally also have experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.

What you'll get in return
The salary on offer is at the base of the VPS3.1 at $79,123 + Super, with annual increases. You will also have access to WFH Hybrid flexibility.
