About the Role – Room Leader

As our Room Leader, you will take the lead in planning, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality, child-led program that meets the developmental needs and interests of children.

You’ll be supported by a close-knit team and a Centre Director who values initiative, professionalism, and your voice as a leader.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Curriculum Planning & Program Delivery

Develop and implement an engaging, inquiry-based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).

Lead intentional teaching, critical reflection, and documentation of children’s learning.

Mentor and guide team members to deliver high-quality experiences and maintain consistency in routines and practices.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

Provide ongoing support, coaching, and supervision to assistant educators in your room.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and solution-focused team culture.

Participate actively in team meetings, professional development, and quality improvement planning.

Relationship Building with Families and Children

Establish trusting and respectful relationships with children and families.

Communicate regularly with families to share updates, listen to feedback, and celebrate learning.

Foster a welcoming environment that supports children's emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children at all times.

Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, including allergy and medical management.

Adhere to all regulatory, legal, and ethical obligations as an Early Childhood Teacher/Leader.

What We’re Looking For

At least 3 years of experience as a Room Leader in early childhood settings

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or higher qualification)

Deep understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and child development

Strong leadership, organisational, and mentoring skills

A commitment to active supervision and safeguarding children

A team player who brings ideas, initiative, and positivity

Current Working with Children Check, First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training (or willingness to obtain)

Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
