About the Role

We’re seeking a Technical Operations Manager (IT & DevOps) to support our growing team and the digital infrastructure that powers our global charity work. This unique hybrid role combines internal IT leadership with hands-on DevOps responsibilities to keep our people connected and our IT systems running securely, reliably, and efficiently.

You’ll play a vital role in helping our team deliver life-saving aid and community programs across the globe—by managing critical systems, cloud environments, and development workflows that scale with purpose.

What You’ll Do

Internal IT & Systems Management

· Lead IT onboarding/offboarding processes—manage access, devices, and accounts

· Administer Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 systems

· Provide Tier 2/3 support for staff across multiple time zones

· Ensure secure and efficient user access to all systems and tools

· Managing users through windows active directory for internal server

DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure

· Set up, scale, and maintain hosting infrastructure (Laravel Forge, Vapor, AWS, DigitalOcean)

· Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Bitbucket, or GitLab CI

· Automate deployments, caching, queue management, and rollback procedures

· Maintain secure, redundant, and scalable environments (Prod, Staging, UAT)

Security, Monitoring & Performance

· Harden server environments (firewalls, SSH, SSL, fail2ban)

· Implement infrastructure monitoring (CloudWatch, Grafana, Sentry)

· Manage backup and disaster recovery processes

· Monitor Laravel queues (Horizon), Redis, and database performance

Support Developer Workflow

· Collaborate with developers to mirror production environments in development

· Dockerize and automate infrastructure where needed (Terraform, Ansible)

· Educate and support the team on testing, staging, and deployment best practices

Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re looking for someone who:

· Has hands-on DevOps experience, ideally with Laravel or PHP-based apps

· Understands the unique needs of non-profit teams and can support staff with empathy and efficiency

· Enjoys building, automating, and improving technical systems to support mission-driven work

· Is confident managing IT access, security, infrastructure, and app deployments end-to-end

Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have)

· Laravel Forge / Vapor / Envoyer

· Cloudflare, DNS, and CDN configuration

· Multi-tenant Laravel applications

· Serverless infrastructure (AWS Lambda, Laravel Vapor)

· Real-time systems (WebSockets, broadcasting, event handling)
