Light Years Newcastle is on the lookout for a confident, hands-on Duty Manager to join our dynamic team. We’re after someone who can seamlessly balance floor leadership with bar expertise, a true all-rounder who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings a positive energy to every shift.

This is the perfect role for a hospitality professional with strong bar experience looking to step into a leadership position. You’ll work closely with the Venue Manager, Assistant Venue Manager, and Bar Manager to ensure smooth service, high standards, and a fun, collaborative team culture.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will take the lead on the floor during service, assist with bar operations, and help drive a great guest experience from start to finish. You’ll support venue operations in the absence of senior management and bring a proactive, solution-focused approach to every shift.

Key Responsibilities

Lead floor service and ensure operational standards are met throughout service

Support the Bar Manager with daily operations, cocktail prep, stocktakes, and bar training

Manage opening and closing procedures, including lighting, music, presentation, and uniform checks

Handle guest complaints and feedback professionally and promptly

Complete daily cash-ups and submit End of Shift Reports (EOSR)

Maintain food safety, hygiene, and RSA compliance across service areas

Participate in weekly deep cleans and ensure bar and floor areas are well maintained

Assist with training new and existing team members in service and bar procedures

Report on stock, bar equipment issues, and maintenance needs

Develop familiarity with the reservations system and booking flows

About You

A strong background in hospitality with experience managing bar and floor operations

Passionate about delivering exceptional service and leading by example

Confident managing high-volume service and fast-paced shifts

Knowledgeable in bar procedures, cocktails, and stock management

A great communicator who works well with teams and guests alike

RSA certified and committed to safety, quality, and consistency
