About the Opportunity
The purpose of the Senior Human Resources Officer position is to support the Human Resources Manager by providing a diverse range of Human Resources functions in a generalist role across the organisation. The position will have an operational focus on all aspects of the employment life cycle from recruitment to offboarding. The position also involves upholding compliance with relevant legislation, and the update of policies and procedures.

About You
We are seeking applicants who have:
Experience in a HR generalist role, preferably within a complex multi- site, culturally diverse workforce setting.
Experience managing employee matters including, but not limited to, performance management, misconduct, attendance issues and grievances.
Experience providing comprehensive advice to managers and employees based on legislation, case law, industrial instruments and best practice.
Experience guiding and coaching managers to develop employees and monitor performance in order to achieve strategic objectives.
Demonstrated experience in implementing HR initiatives within the workplace.
Experience in change management in a complex and often challenging work environment, ideally in health, including acting as a change agent.
Experience in developing, reviewing, maintaining and implementing HR-related registers, documents, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate the staff recruitment process, including advertising, selection, appointment and ongoing staff induction.
Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control.
Knowledge and understanding of Human Resources strategies and approaches, preferably within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment context.
Demonstrated knowledge in applying contemporary HR practices, strategies and legislative requirements.
Sound interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence at senior and operational levels to secure appropriate support, decisions or outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate and implement operational and project plans and processes, to deliver within acceptable timeframes and budgets.
Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
Mandatory Requirements
Tertiary qualification in a Human Resources or relevant Business discipline or significant experience in a senior Human Resources role
Current Queensland Drivers Licence
Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
Current AFP National Police Clearance or willing to obtain
