Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, founded in the 1980s by Rose Richards ('Aunty Rosie'), is a leading health service provider dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from Cape York, NPA and Torres Strait Islander communities while in Cairns. Our Health Accommodation center is a welcoming and supportive accommodation facility for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children who are in Cairns for medical treatment. The facility can house up to 24 women and 12 children, providing a safe and comfortable environment.

About the role

The Clinical Care Coordinator will deliver culturally appropriate primary health care to clients of Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan (MRBB) who are living with chronic conditions and complex needs. The role involves providing comprehensive clinical services including ongoing screening, assessment, care planning, and referrals. It also includes report writing, client and carer education, regular reviews, and support for hospital step-down planning. Additionally, the role acts as a clinical resource within the team, providing education, mentoring, and skills validation within scope of practice to support high-quality, culturally safe care delivery.

Candidate selection criteria

Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse Division 1

Queensland Immunisation Endorsed, or willingness to complete within a specified timeframe

Minimum 5 years’ experience working within the primary health care industry

Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in rural and remote areas

Previous experience within a hospital (ED, SCUBU, Surgical, Birth suite), highly regarded

Extensive experience in providing education and support to clients about their conditions and treatments, including medications, to improve their capacity for self-management and engagement with the broader health system

Demonstrated experience in participating in clinical governance activities, including contributing to reference groups and supporting the development and implementation of accreditation frameworks

Demonstrated experience in participating in multidisciplinary intake case conferencing, particularly with social and emotional wellbeing teams and other relevant service providers

Demonstrated ability providing professional leadership and mentoring to other health practitioners, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, Health Workers, and nursing students, highly regarded.

Rewarding salary range - $90,105.60 - $129,833.60 per annum
