Research Officer Part time
Initial 6-month contract with a possibility of extension
Applications are invited for the above position at the Electorate Office of Hon Dr Brian Walker MLC, Member for Western Australia, based in West Perth. In this role as Research Officer you will undertake the collation, research and analysis of information to support the delivery of information as required by the Member of Parliament. Other duties include assisting in administration functions relating to the operations of the electorate offices as necessary.
The ideal applicant should be a confident and enthusiastic cold caller, enjoy meaningful conversations and can communicate with clarity and warmth. Excellent skills in email outreach and engagement strategies, including marketing funnels and user journey mapping, would be highly regarded. The applicant should also be able to assess complex material quickly and communicate key insights clearly, have high level of discretion and professionalism by being comfortable with handling confidential information, and have proficient organisation and time management skills by being able to meet tight deadlines.
Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:
Essential
· Strong research and analytical skills with an ability to deliver information in a written document.
· Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and schedule work to ensure the completion of tasks to meet deadlines.
· Good oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to respond to rapid changes and expectations on work routines.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative in dealing with difficult situations.
· Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with complex and difficult situations and matters of confidential nature.
Desirable
· Ability to understand the impact and implications of issues and problems which arise in the constituency or parliamentary processes and able to consider the feelings and needs of all parties involved.
· Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary procedures.
· Relevant tertiary qualifications
The position is offered under the Electorate and Research Employees (CSA) General Agreement 2024. A probationary period of three months will apply.
