The Opportunity
This position is part of the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology team — a dynamic, multidisciplinary group committed to reducing the burden of infectious diseases in children and their families. The team takes a comprehensive approach that includes understanding disease burden, developing and optimising diagnostic and treatment strategies, and evaluating and informing current and future prevention programs.
As part of the IDEPI team, you’ll be involved in impactful research that improves child health outcomes. You will play a key role in managing and analysing complex health datasets, assisting in the development of protocols, and preparing publications and presentations that contribute to national and international knowledge in infectious disease epidemiology.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning, collating, and merging large linked administrative datasets for analysis.
Conducting high-quality statistical and epidemiological analysis using STATA.
Supporting preparation of reports, research outputs, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Assisting with protocol development, literature reviews, and grant applications.
Engaging collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintaining ethical standards and accurate research documentation.
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, this is a part time position, 0.6 – 0.8 FTE for a period of 3 years (with a possibility of an extension).
About You
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative researcher with a passion for improving child health through epidemiological research. You will bring:
A PhD in epidemiology and/or public health.
Experience working with large, complex health datasets and linked data.
Proficiency in STATA (or similar statistical software).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing.
Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
A genuine interest in infectious diseases, child health, and vaccine-preventable conditions.
