Position Title: Solution Architect - Identity Modernisation (Azure AD B2C / Ping Identity)
Location: Sydney
Contract Type: 12 Month Contract + 1 extension
Security Clearance: Active Baseline Clearance required
Start Date: 1st July 2025

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the strategic replacement of Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) with a modern, secure, and scalable identity solution. This role will focus on implementing and integrating Azure AD B2C with Ping Identity (PingOne), enabling seamless user authentication within a Whole-of-Government digital identity framework, such as those used by Services NSW and myGovID.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end architectural design and delivery of a modern identity platform to replace Oracle Identity Manager.
  • Define the integration architecture for Azure AD B2C and Ping Identity (PingOne) to support federated login and user authentication.
  • Design identity federation and Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities to support secure government user access.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure the architecture meets stringent security, privacy, and compliance standards (including ISM and Essential Eight).
  • Provide architectural leadership to delivery teams and stakeholders across multiple departments and systems.
  • Apply Whole-of-Government integration patterns and frameworks to support alignment with national identity initiatives, including myGovID and Services NSW identity ecosystems.
  • Create architecture artefacts including solution blueprints, integration patterns, data flow diagrams, and high-level designs.
  • Provide expert guidance on identity governance, access management, role-based access control, and user lifecycle management.
  • Evaluate and recommend modernisation options to ensure scalability, resilience, and future-proofing of the identity platform.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, government agencies, and vendors to ensure successful implementation.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect in enterprise-level identity and access management (IAM) transformation projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Azure AD B2C, including custom policies and user journeys.
  • Solid understanding and practical implementation of Ping Identity products (PingOne, PingFederate, PingAccess, etc.).
  • Experience integrating Ping Identity with Azure AD B2C for seamless authentication and user federation.
  • Previous experience replacing or modernising Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) or similar legacy IAM platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of federated identity protocols including SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC.
  • Understanding of Whole-of-Government identity frameworks, especially Services Australia or myGovID integration models.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable cloud-native identity architectures.
  • Familiarity with government security standards (e.g., Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual).
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present complex architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
