About the role

The Information Systems Officer develops and maintains data warehouses, ETL processes, analytics, reporting solutions, and business process automation to support PIR operations.

We're seeking a cloud-savvy, Python-skilled professional to join our ICT team. You'll build scalable, automated data solutions that improve reporting, integration, and service delivery—supporting land managers and rural communities across NSW.

This role ensures staff have timely, reliable access to accurate data to support day-to-day operations, projects, and program delivery.

  • Automate and optimise data pipelines across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Write robust, scalable Python scripts and SQL queries
  • Design, test, and deploy efficient ETL workflows using modern tools

  • Translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Lead and document automation and process improvement initiatives
  • Share knowledge through documentation, training, and team collaboration

About You

You're a problem solver who loves turning complexity into simplicity. With solid cloud experience (Azure, AWS or GCP), Python scripting skills, and a passion for automation, you build reliable data solutions that make a real impact. You enjoy working with others, seek out ways to improve systems, and can explain technical concepts in plain language.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Practical experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Strong Python skills for automation and data handling
  • Proficiency in SQL and data warehouse structures
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, version control and deployment tools (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps)
  • A logical, analytical mindset and confident troubleshooting ability
  • Clear, effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A focus on simplifying processes and delivering outcomes
  • A valid NSW driver licence and willingness to travel across NSW (including overnight stays when required)
