Permanent Full time Planned Surgery Liaison Nurse Role
- Bachelor of Nursing, which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA
- Awareness of the Planned Surgery Access Policy and the Department of Health requirements.
- At least 3 years postgraduate acute surgical nursing experience
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Role
You will work closely with the Operations Manager of Planned Surgery, the Deputy Elective Surgery Manager, and the rest of the Planned Surgery team to manage and coordinate the care of patients on the Planned Surgery Waiting List for the Vascular and Hand Surgery Specialties. You will co-ordinate, negotiate and manage the transition of care of patients throughout the continuum. You will be primarily responsible for managing the care of our patients to the Planned Surgery Access Policy (2024), streamline the elective admission process, and work towards decreasing wait for surgery and length of stay. - Aware of the Planned Surgery Access Policy (2024) principles with regards to when patients are placed on the elective surgery waiting list and auditing and communication requirements
- Liaise with surgical staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate case management of patients
- Monitor elective surgery cancellations and arrange appropriate follow up
- Monitor Category 1 patients to ensure they are treated within 30 days.
- Manage Category 2 & 3 patients to ensure they are treated within their designated time frame set by the Department of Health
Classifications for this position will range from YU11 ($102,278.80 per annum) pro rata.

About Planned Surgery
The Planned Surgery Management Team (PSMT) coordinates and case manages patients that are on the St Vincent's Hospital planned surgery preparation list in accordance with the Department of Health Planned Surgery Access Policy. The PSMT is responsible for the case management all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM.
