About the Role:

The overall purpose of the Technical Manager (Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine) is to

manage and coordinate the activities undertaken in the Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine laboratories, simulation suites and associated facilities and to manage the day-to-day duties of the technical support staff

ensure the provision of laboratory services to students and staff which facilitate the achievement of high-quality learning, research and community engagement experiences

maintain a high standard of OHS compliance for the laboratories, facilities and to oversee the systems and processes that govern the relevant spaces.

The position ensures that all teaching, research and consulting activities within these laboratories (located at campuses in St Albans, Werribee, Sunshine Clinical School and Sunshine Skills Hub operate efficiently and effectively.

This is a full time continuing contract at HEP 7 classification $97,863 - $105,932 plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week.

An example of duties you may perform will include:

Manage all policies, procedures and activities (teaching, research and external engagement) that govern and are undertaken in the Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine suites of laboratories.

Ensure all facilities and equipment are well-maintained, with appropriate quality assurance for teaching, research and consultancy activities.

Liaise with Academic Staff to enable the quality support of teaching activities

Identify, assess, prioritise and manage risks to the health and safety of staff, students, visitors and contractors to the environment arising from the operation of the area under their responsibility, and ensure that a safe system of work is developed and followed through appropriate training, supervision and monitoring in line with the OHS Plan.

In consultation with relevant stakeholders, develop, review and manage Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Biosafety policies specific to the Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine.

Conduct laboratory audits and inspections as required to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, University policies and laboratory safety procedures.

About You:

You will be working in the Technical Services team at Victoria University. Technical Services is a shared service providing support to the University Colleges, Research Institutes and Victoria University Polytechnic (VU’s TAFE division) and sits within the College of Sport, Health and Engineering. This role provides services into all sectors as required. Your experience and knowledge of the Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine disciplines, along with your commitment to providing a positive student experience, will assist you in delivering on Victoria University’s vision to empower a diverse community of students, to grow their capabilities and transform their lives.

Applicant must have a proven ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate the operation of a Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine laboratories and simulation suites or laboratories of a similar nature.
