About the role
This role exists to increase EA’s impact and influence on engineering matters and engage Engineers Australia’s membership. Working with the Division Team, the role will support the delivery of the divisions business plan, ensuring good governance, effective service delivery, engagement and collaboration with members, office bearers and volunteers as well as with external stakeholders across industry, education, and community. This part-time role (0.6 FTE) is spread over 3 days a week. While it primarily requires on-site presence, there is some flexibility available following probation and at the General Manager’s discretion.
Location
This role is based in Newcastle.
In this role you will:
Assist the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in building the impact and brand of Engineers Australia through the implementation of an activity plan to create awareness of the engineering profession through local school engagement, recognition of engineers and media & communications activity (e.g. LinkedIn).
Support the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in fostering partnerships with stakeholders (across industry, education, government, community, and other industry bodies) to expand Engineers Australia’s profile.
Support and co-ordinate STEM outreach programs (school engagement) in your local area
Support and collaborate with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager on local event activity as appropriate.
As required utilise the office bearer and volunteer network to support the planning, promoting and delivery of events whilst maintaining accurate data.
Support and collaborate with the other business units on local event activity as appropriate.
Operate as an ambassador for Engineers Australia and lead or participate in events and functions.
Support office bearers and volunteers in delivering impactful activity for EA.
Keep informed about issues relating to engineering in your local area and more broadly.
Attend to office administration tasks.
Provide high level customer liaison, assisting employees, members, volunteers and external stakeholders with general office and facilities operations.
Other duties as required.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
You can build relationships with a wide variety of people, internally and externally.
You are comfortable managing multiple projects at once with competing deadlines.
You can work successfully across teams, without direct reporting line authority to deliver and host meetings and events.
You demonstrate initiative and accountability; you are efficient, able to organise and prioritise work, garner resources and deliver required outputs whilst tackling multiple tasks.
You are a committed team player with excellent interpersonal skills, organisational and time management skills.
You have a high level of written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to deliver a message with enthusiasm and energy.
You bring with you, or are excited to develop, a working knowledge of (non-technical) engineering matters.
Ideally you have a background in delivering high quality experiences and services and have experience in at least one of: member or customer service/engagement, policy, advocacy, media, STEM, industry engagement or corporate events.
