Be the Backbone of the Workshop Floor
Allspec Engineering Pty Ltd is looking for a full-time Workshop Superintendent.
This is a hands-on leadership role embedded within the fabrication workshop - not an office-based position. You will be actively involved on the floor, guiding teams, managing resourcing and workflow, and ensuring projects are delivered with safety, precision, and efficiency.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role bridges frontline supervision with strategic coordination and team mentoring.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leading and mentoring fabrication teams to deliver project outcomes in a high-performance environment
Driving safety-first behaviours and compliance with ISO 9001 and HSEQ systems
Coordinating daily workshop operations, including planning, resourcing, and workflow management
Collaborating with the Operations Manager and Projects Team to align deliverables and timelines
Supporting training, onboarding and development of apprentices, boilermakers and team leaders
Ensuring quality assurance, job profitability, and continuous improvement in practices
Reporting workshop metrics and providing feedback to senior management
Maintaining a strong, consistent presence on the workshop floor
Your First Few Weeks
In the initial weeks, you will:
Undergo one-on-one training with the Operations Manager and Workshop Supervisor
Gain full exposure to internal systems, workshop workflows, and project timelines
Receive any additional WHS, first aid, or supervisory training if needed (including forklift licensing if not held)
Start developing rapport with workshop teams while observing key fabrication projects underway
Be supported in learning Allspec’s safety culture, tools, and leadership standards
This phased onboarding ensures a confident and informed transition into the role.
Shaped by Steel, Driven by People
To qualify, you will need to be a trade-qualified Boilermaker with minimum 6–10 years of experience in heavy structural steel fabrication, and at least 2 years in a leadership capacity, ideally within a workshop-based manufacturing environment (not FIFO repair/maintenance).
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication techniques and welding standards
Strong understanding of WHS practices, ISO 9001 compliance, and workshop systems
Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
Supervisory or WHS training
Familiarity with project tracking software
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and the confidence to coach, lead and resolve challenges on the floor. Your proactive approach and ability to motivate others will contribute to a safe, efficient, and growth-driven environment.
This is a career-defining opportunity for a future Workshop Manager or someone ready to step up into broader operations leadership.
What’s in It for You
Compensation based on skills and experience, is a competitive annual salary starting from $160,000 and a host of excellent benefits including:
Fully maintained company vehicle
$30 per fortnight mobile phone allowance
Annual leave and superannuation
New, clean, and well-equipped workshop facility
Strong pipeline of fabrication projects
Supportive, team-based culture with high retention
Career pathways across Operations, Projects, and Estimation
Team social events, including barbecues and end-of-year functions
