The Opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a Workshop Assistant to join our VIC team. We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual with a positive can-do attitude.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Deliver, set up, and maintain variable message sign trailers, light towers, variable speed limit signs, and barriers, ensuring they are fully operational and meet client requirements.

Perform equipment repairs, maintenance, and quality checks, ensuring all hire equipment is cleaned, tested, and ready for dispatch and return.

Follow correct procedures for equipment handling, troubleshooting minor mechanical and electrical faults under supervision, and assisting with general workshop tasks.

Organize and maintain the workshop, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored, and conduct routine inventory checks of spare parts and tools.

Assist in assembling, modifying, or preparing new equipment for rental use, ensuring it meets operational standards.

Load and unload hire equipment from vehicles and trucks safely and efficiently.

Perform general labour tasks whilst following safe manual handling practices.

Conduct pre-start checks, final inspections at drop-offs and pick-ups, and actively identify and mitigate workplace hazards.

Demonstrate initiative, efficiency, and problem-solving skills, adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high safety and service standards.

What You Will Bring:

History of safe working practices

Valid car licence

Prior towing experience is valued but not essential, as full training will be provided before starting.

At least 1-year experience is preferable

Ability to problem solve with a positive 'can-do' attitude

Attention to detail

Mechanical background is desirable but not required
