About the Role

We’re seeking a hands-on production leader to guide our sewing team and oversee daily operations. You'll be responsible not just for high-quality sewing output, but for uplifting the team, improving processes, and ensuring excellence in safety, workflow, and craftsmanship.

Your key responsibilities include:

Leading the day-to-day operations of the sewing room

Cutting fabric and overseeing flag assembly from pattern to finish

Monitoring production workflows and identifying opportunities for process improvements

Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and quality standards

Collaborating with other departments (sales, admin, dispatch) to optimise manufacturing operations

Providing hands-on training to machinists and newer staff

Offering regular performance feedback and contributing to team member development

Troubleshooting sewing issues and maintaining quality control

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for a senior seamstress/tailor or experienced sewing team leader ready to take ownership of a collaborative, high-quality production environment.

You will bring:

Substantial experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a manufacturing, sewing or production environment

Strong technical skills and understanding of sewing, flag-making or textile production processes

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team

Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address challenges and optimise workflows

Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards

Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Confidence operating industrial sewing equipment and interpreting patterns/templates

Bonus skills (not essential):

Appliqué or textile artwork background

Experience with cutting and/or pattern making

Flagmaking knowledge — training is provided if you’ve got the core skills!
