The Role

We are currently seeking dedicated and passionate Grounds staff to join our high-performing and output-driven Grounds Team at our Eastern Suburbs site located at Matraville, NSW.

As a Grounds team member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining general grounds and gardening operations. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Performing grounds maintenance tasks, including turf maintenance, pest and disease control, pruning, hedging, fertilising, and minor building maintenance.

Utilising a range of motorised garden equipment.

Engaging in general landscape construction activities.

Assisting in planting trees, shrubs and annuals, including following planting plans.

Effectively communicating with Funeral Directors, families and visitors.

Providing additional support to the Burials and Crematorium team when necessary.

About You:

The successful candidate will possess a mature outlook and a positive “can-do” attitude with an ability to perform duties with empathy and professionalism.

Ideally, you will have:

Previous experience in parks and gardens maintenance (preferred but not essential).

A White Card (or willing to obtain).

Passion for working outdoors and ability to work in all weather conditions.

Enjoyment working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

Initiative, self-motivation, and ability to contribute to planning and scheduling.

Punctuality, reliability, presentability, respect and empathy.

Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a cohesive team.

Strong attention to detail.

A current, unrestricted driver’s license (essential).

Trade qualifications and proven experience in a similar role (highly regarded but not essential).
