The Cathedral School, a leading independent school committed to holistic education, is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our Boys’ Boarding House as a full-time residential Head of Boarding.

About the Role

As the Head of Boys’ Residence, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, wellbeing, and development of the boys in our boarding house. The role will be responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and structured home environment for our boarding students. You’ll lead a team of caring staff, build strong relationships with young people and their families, and play a key role in shaping the culture and wellbeing of our boarding community. This is a full-time, residential role that requires a strong presence, a nurturing spirit, and a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day pastoral care and management for the boys’ boarding house.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive home-like living environment.
  • Organise routines and events that promote community and wellbeing.
  • Support students’ personal, emotional, and academic development.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming residential environment in line with school policies and child protection standards.

We’re Looking For Someone With

  • Experience in youth work, residential, boarding or pastoral care role, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their growth.
  • Ability to live on-site and be actively involved in the life of the boarding house.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or residential care are highly desirable.
