About the role
We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Officer to carry out a range of general maintenance, repairs and programmed works to the buildings, grounds, plant, equipment and infrastructure at Westminster School. The Maintenance Officer will have experience in general maintenance and/or building practices and is expected to work in a ‘hands on’ capacity, undertaking a range of preventative, planned and unplanned maintenance services to support the operations of the School.
Key general maintenance responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to WHS issues and allocated maintenance requests in a timely manner, exercising a high level of customer service focus
- Employ basic fault finding to assess maintenance request repairs/issues
- Utilise trade or handyman skills in the performance of repairs and maintenance as required
- Conduct ad-hoc basic maintenance to School vehicles
- Assist with making minor alterations and renovations to existing facilities and structures, and assist with new projects as required
- Undertake a wide variety of general duties, as required, always acting conscientiously and in support of the School community
You will be expected to undertake other responsibilities as required to support the operations of the School including (but not limited to) rubbish bin collection on a rotational basis, the cleaning of drains and gutters, assisting with the setup of School events and pick up, delivery and storage of furniture items across the School.
Suitable candidates will have relevant trade qualifications and/or several years of practical experience and demonstrate sound knowledge of the use of and maintenance of relevant equipment. You will be a team player with good interpersonal skills, which will enable you to develop productive working relationships with staff and external stakeholders. Initiative, ability to work under limited supervision and work to deadlines are essential to this role. Medium Rigid, forklift, and Test and Tag licences will be a definite advantage.
A good level of physical fitness is required for this role and the preferred candidate will be required to undertake a medical assessment which includes a functional capacity assessment.
