What is our Senior Epidemiologist role?
This position is responsible for the management and coordination of the Public Health Intelligence Team and any related Metropolitan Communicable Disease Control projects including immunisation projects as determined by the Consultant Public Health Medicine or Head of Department. The role supervises and monitors the planning, implementation, and maintenance of data management systems for collection and analysis of surveillance data from a variety of sources, including immunisation data from the Australian Immunisation Register; monitors the production of consistent and accurate reporting to stakeholders as required; liaises with key stakeholders to ensure optimal planning and processes for data collection and reporting; and ensures any projects and initiatives are compliant with relevant policies.

About Boorloo (Perth) Public Health Unit
Boorloo (Perth) Public Health Unit (PHU) works to protect the population by monitoring communicable diseases, giving expert advice to primary care providers who diagnose the diseases, and following-up contacts of disease to reduce the spread in the community. It works collaboratively with immunisation service providers and other relevant stakeholders to deliver WA immunisation programs and implement strategies to improve immunisation.
Boorloo PHU is a metropolitan wide service based in the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS), providing disease control services to the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS), South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) and NMHS regions including advice and support on notifiable infectious disease and immunisation to hospitals, general practice, residential aged care, education facilities, child care centres and other settings to ensure appropriate public health management of notifiable diseases and other communicable diseases of public health significance (including disease outbreaks).
